"If face value is the worth of something based on it's surface, then Defaced Value is the worth when the surface has been removed."
Defaced Value started out as an editorial cartoon that I drew for a college newspaper from 1988 to 1990.
In the early 90's, Defaced Value morphed into a sample-based hip hop recording project that I headed performing under the artist name Milk Money.
By late 1994, I was becoming disenfranchised with the direction the genre was moving in. In Sept. 1994, Defaced Value performed at the Ace of Clubs in downtown Nashville. After that show, I walked off stage and did not record or perform as Milk Money again.
The muse to create new Defaced Value music went dormant and Defaced Value was used as a social media soap box for me to publicly express my more socially conscience opinions.
But in the mid 2010's the creative juices began to simmer.
Feeling a need to plant it's flag in the realm of digital distribution Defaced Value reemerged in March 2022 with a new song "My Definition".
